PERSPICACITY
JANUARY 2010.
Nicola Fernandes creates a 6 day open exhibition
based on experiments in space, light and atmosphere of the gallery environment
and invites members of the public to view the development of her ideas within
this period.
Five different experiments will be carried out
throughout the week, one on each day, with the intention of collating all of
them at the end of the week to form a completed exhibition of works.

INNOMINATEJULY 2009

A collection of current work by Maximilian Egger and Fiona Livesey.
Entitled
Links. Through the medium of photography Max is exploring the idea of
relationships. The ones we have with those we love, the ones we have
with those we loved and the ones that exist with those we never knew.
The silent and invisible links that join.
Fiona’s
work is primarily based upon time and the theoretical structure it
possesses. Combining concept with chance experimentation, she attempts
to explore and understand the momentary length of events and
existence.
Both
exhibitors are working towards something that can never truly be
represented, physically or verbally, something innominate.
THE DROP IN CENTRE PRESENTS...
MAY 2009
Serena Caulfield|Emma-Jane Corsan |Mark Jennings |Cherry Styles Curated by: Alison MacRonald
Take
away the frame, take away the plinth, take away the pristine white
walls and any other form of display neutrality. This exhibition aims to
reconnect art with the ordinary world. It was borne out of real blood,
sweat, late nights and the occasional fight. The artists involved may
be people just like you. Their individual ideas and artwork may be
something that you can relate to or at least make you crack a smile.
Influenced
by sociologist Henri Lefebvre’s theory that artistic activity is not a
realm divorced from everyday life, The Drop in Centre uses personal or
acquired domestic furniture to display art to indicate lived experience
and individuality. The world may be becoming smaller through
globalisation, mass marketing and mass production but individualism and
personal opinion remain. The Drop in Centre hopes to present an
accessible viewing environment that encourages viewer engagement and
discussion.

'..........' (Space)
APRIL 2009
Caroline Carty’s practice investigates creating new realms of space,
regions where the roles of bodies and their interactions with space are
manipulated.
Victoria Scott’s work amalgamates point, line and pivot in search of a
fresh perspective of order in space.
Samantha Horrobin is interested in remembered spaces, particularly within
the domestic sphere.
ACQUIESCE.
MARCH 2009
ACQUIESCE is a
collaborative exhibition between five artists from the Norwich University College of the
Arts - Samuel Aldis, Caroline Carty, Rachael Fisher, Julie Savoye and Stacey Smith.
Acquiesce
describes the connecting state between the collaborating artists and
has emerged as a paramount concept that illustrates life within the art
institution and surrounding art environment. A passive consent that one
applies to without protest is the attitude that many submit to
regardless if they are aware of it; it becomes the nature of life and
integrates so that its existence is indeterminable.
The
exhibition is the opportunity to show work collectively in this pursuit
and provides an important juncture to which, each distinct artist can
develop individual practices whilst observing an acquiesce state. The
exhibit within Unit 5 forms an informal interruption of life in
acquiesce and aims not to oppose nor advocate its presence, but to
simply highlight its continuation within our daily life.
